How it works
- 1 Ask everyone to send you two or three gift ideas.
- 2 Add each name and paste their ideas into the wish list box under it.
- 3 Add the budget and exchange date, then tap “Draw names”.
- 4 Send each person their link. It shows their match’s wish list.
What makes a useful Secret Santa wish list
- → Two or three ideas at different prices within the budget.
- → Sizes if clothes are fair game: shirt, shoe, ring.
- → Hobbies or fandoms: “anything for my sourdough”, “Studio Ghibli”, “trail running”.
- → A “please no” line: no alcohol, no mugs, no scented stuff, allergies.
- → One wild card: “surprise me with a book you loved this year”.
Wish list ideas if someone has no idea
- → A nice version of something they use every day: socks, a pen, a water bottle
- → Snacks from a country they’ve visited or want to visit
- → A paperback they’ve been meaning to read
- → A plant that’s hard to kill
- → A game for the next get-together
- → A good hot sauce, tea or coffee sampler
Questions
Who sees the wish lists? +
Only the person who drew someone sees that someone’s wish list, inside their private link. The organizer typed them in, so the organizer knows the wishes, but not who drew whom.
Can people add their own wish list after the draw? +
Not on this page, because nothing is stored online. The simplest way is to collect wishes in the group chat first, then draw. Anyone who forgot can still post ideas in the chat later.
Is this Secret Santa generator really free? +
Yes. There is no sign-up, no email and no paid version of the generator. You type the names, draw, and send each person their link.
Do you store our names or matches? +
No. The draw happens in your browser and nothing is sent to us. Each match is packed into that person’s link, and your browser keeps the last draw so a reload doesn’t lose it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
