How to play
1Get your card
Pass the phone around. Everyone sees the secret word, except the imposter, who only gets a hint.
2Say one word
Take turns saying one word that fits the secret word. Not too obvious, not too vague.
3Vote
After a round or two, everyone points at the player they think is bluffing.
4Reveal
Catch the imposter and the group wins. Vote wrong, or let the imposter guess the word, and the imposter wins.
Tips
- → As the imposter, listen first: the earlier players’ words narrow down the secret word fast.
- → As a regular player, avoid the most obvious clue. If you say “ocean” for Beach, the imposter has it.
- → Play two clue rounds with bigger groups (6+) so the imposter has a harder time hiding.

How many players do you need for the Imposter game? +
At least 3 players: one imposter and two others. It is best with 4 to 8 players.
Do you need multiple phones to play Imposter? +
No. One phone is enough. You pass it around so each player can secretly see their role.
What are good Imposter game categories? +
Easy categories like food, animals and places work well for beginners. Movies, brands, sports and TV series make it harder. The Duoo app has 9 categories including a spicy one for adults.
